Pearsall’s pure silk thread comes in two sizes;
the
Gossamer and the
Naples.
Traditionally the Naples thread is considered
to be the rod building thread and is equivalent
to a 4/0 tying thread. The Gossamer silk is used
both for fly tying and rod wrapping and is equivalent
to 6/0 thread.
Pearsall’s silk thread is manufactured from 20/22
denier (8 filament) and the quality of Pearsall’s thread
is unmatched as they take the care to use only Chinese
Bombyx raw silk which is scoured to remove the Sericin
(a viscous gelatinous protein that forms on the surface
of raw-silk fibers) and then it is hand dyed to meet the
demands of discriminating rod makers.
Thread comes on half-size spool with 45 meters.
